Description
The Story Many people equate China with the lunar calendar, but the sun has also played a pivotal role in how the Chinese view life cycles. The ancient Chinese developed what is known as the 24 solar terms, which prescribed how people lived and worked, especially in rural areas. The solar terms originated between the 16th and 11th centuries BC and were perfected in their present form during the Western Han Dynasty (206-220 BC). Pure Mahjong explores each of these 24 solar terms over the course of the year – both the main screen and the game itself adjust to the season, displaying typical motifs and objects along with some interesting trivia. Design: a completely new approach with amazing results Every picture you see in Pure Mahjong is a lovingly created collage based on real photographs. Nothing like this has ever been used in a computer game, and the experience for the player is something completely different from the pixelated effects that pop up in even the latest titles. Each of the 24 seasons (called solar terms) has been created as a work of art, combining amazing and traditional sights from all over China according to the season. While the main screen introduces the current season, the Mahjong games themselves are displayed on 24 beautifully decorated changing backgrounds. Levels: Intelligent entertainment that can last minutes or hours With more than 1,800 individually designed levels, Pure Mahjong provides enough variety for months of challenging gameplay. While some levels can be solved in minutes, other may take hours to finally crack. There is a solution for every single level. As a special feature, you can compare your personal results with those of other players that have solved each individual level before you. On every single day of the year, four new levels await you to be solved. From (relatively) easy to very difficult, players can expect real challenges. For each solved level, the player is awarded with a calorie-free fortune cookie. More than 700 different messages await discovery! Music: A relaxing, uplifting soundtrack We’ve listened to hundreds of relaxing Chinese-themed songs for close to a year to create a soundtrack of more than 20 inspiring, unobtrusive tracks. The result is beautiful music that not only helps you concentrate and relax, but also completes the meditative experience of playing Pure Mahjong and stimulates your senses. Just started playing this morning and like it so far. I was able to turn off the music, but can’t find the settings to turn off the sound. I’ve disabled the sound on all the games I have on my iPhone and iPad as I find them annoying and distracting.

Terrific mahjong!!! I love the selection of background music, which is so peaceful and relaxing to listen to while playing (plus there is so much variety). And I love the crackling sounds you hear when you make a tile match. The graphics are super sharp and quite detailed. I like the fortune cookies with the words of wisdom you get when you complete a level. And trust me, when you get to what’s termed as the very hard levels, these levels can be extremely challenging. I decided to get the yearly premium subscription for $6.99/year, as I think it’s well worth it, and they do offer what I believe is a 1 week trial of premium for free. It appears you can play some levels for free before either doing the 1 week premium trial or subscribing I believe on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis (see the app description for the full details). Highly recommended if you’re a fan of mahjong ? 11/19/20 update: As much as I’ve enjoyed playing this game over the past couple of months or so, I’m star...

The most irritating is blocking obvious legal moves. A legal move is treated as illegal necessitating rebooting the game and losing all your moves. Nice game but needs work by the developers. Left them an email let’s see if they respond. I WILL LEAVE ANOTHER REVIEW REFLECTING THEIR RESPONSE TO SUPPORT. I AM A SUBSCRIBER. FOLLOW UP: It’s been too long without comment from developers. They’ve decided to ignore my emails and not offer support. I’ve canceled my subscription and hope the developers get their heads out their a… and back up what they sell.

I love this game but some of the ads for other games are very questionable. I sometimes sit and play this with my grandchildren and when violent games-featuring women being attacked and stripped of their clothing-I’m thinking it is time to find a different mahjong.

Too many ads, too many bugs and too many game freeze ups. Currently unable to go to the next game. Click on “continue” and instead of a new game I’m connected to one ad after another. Really???? And, now you’re blocking my Review Name???
